Fuller center of Webster receives $15,000 grant from the Carolyn W. & Charles T. Beaird Foundation
May 15, 2013 it was announced that the Fuller Center of Webster, Inc. was the recipient of a $15,000 grant from the Carolyn W. and Charles T. Beaird Foundation in Shreveport to be used to help construct a new home for a deserving family in the name of the late Beaird Foundation Executive Director Jim Montgomery, a native of Springhill Louisiana.
A veteran journalist and civic activist, Jim loved the arts and was instrumental in helping to save the historic Strand Theatre in downtown Shreveport. He believed in the mission of the Fuller Center of Webster and was a strong supporter. After serving as a grant writer for the city of Shreveport, he served as the executive director for the Beaird Foundation for the eight years prior to his death in January 2013.
According to Fuller Center of Webster Executive Director, Derek Melancon, “The Beaird Foundation has greatly blessed the Fuller Center of Webster and a future homeowner”. He added, “Our build that began on May 1, 2013 in Springhill, that has been simply called # 51, will now become the “Jim Montgomery Memorial Build” and on the day of dedication to the new homeowner a special moment will be set aside to remember the works of Jim Montgomery and the Beaird Foundation”.
